Reflexology is a very relaxing therapy, which can help prevent illness as well as relieving existing symptoms. Regular reflexology sessions can help to relieve tension and stress, boost the immune system, release toxins, improve sleep patterns and increase energy levels.
Reflexology is an holistic therapy used to bring about balance and well being. By working on specific points of the feet (or hands) the reflexologist can detect areas of imbalance, congestion or weakness in the body. Attention to these areas can help to restore balance in the body’s energy pathways and promote the body’s ability to heal itself.
Many common ailments and complaints may benefit from reflexology treatments, such as:
What to expect from a treatment:
A reflexology treatment normally lasts for about an hour. On your first visit, I will take a short medical history and discuss your lifestyle and wellbeing. You will then lie back on a treatment couch or reclining chair to enjoy the treatment. The technique is a thumb or finger walking movement of the surface of the foot. It is gentle but firm and should not tickle nor should it be painful. I use a natural footbalm to soothe and pamper the feet and allow my fingers to move smoothly over the skin.
Below is a foot chart showing the position of the reflexes on the soles of the feet.
If you are looking for something different to do with you and your friends, or if you are curious about reflexology and would like to try it and learn more, why not book a pamper party at your place? I even come to you.
Get 4-6 of you together and you each get a treat of 20 minutes of bliss. Lie back in my reclining chair, put your feet up and take some time out for you. If you are a mums and bubs group this could work for you too; no need for baby sitters! You are never too young to start receiving reflexology treatments and I can share some tips with you that you can use on your little ones.
If you really don’t like your feet being touched, you can opt for Indian Head Massage instead!
Massage can have many benefits. It is a good form of relaxation but also helps to improve the general and lymphatic circulation in the body. It can help in removing the build up of toxins in the muscles from stress, tension and overwork and can boost the immune system. Regular treatments can help prevent stress-related illness and injury from sport and exercise.
Massage is the most instinctive and probably the most ancient form of healing known. What is more natural when stiff, sore or aching than to touch or rub the affected area?
Treating a person holistically means that you are encompassing the whole of that person, mind, body and soul and not just concentrating on the physical body.
Therefore, when I give a treatment, no matter what it is, I always have my ‘toolbox’ at hand to be able draw on what is right for my client at that time.
As well as reflexology and massage, I am also a graduate in Waveform Energetics and have been attuned to Reiki Level II. Both of these are means of accessing Ki or Chi – Universal Life Force Energy.
Energy healings can be given as stand-alone treatments or incorporated into a reflexology or massage treatment. They are gentle, powerful and completely non-invasive treatments. The receiver does not need to remove any clothing and the treatment can easily be given sitting up, if lying down causes discomfort. All that is required is an open mind and a willingness to heal yourself. Energy healing is very useful in helping to address and overcome emotional problems and may also be of interest if the intimacy of other touch therapies is not desired.
The intention is to heal on all levels – mind, emotion, body and spirit and is always for the greater good of both the receiver and the giver.
